Art for those who prefer the strange, sacred, and macabre.

One of the most haunting images of German Symbolism, Franz von Stuck’s Lucifer presents the fallen angel not as a monstrous figure, but as something far more unsettling: silent, watchful, and intensely human.

Seated in darkness, Lucifer fixes the viewer with an almost hypnotic stare. There are no flames, horns, or theatrical gestures here. The power of the image comes from its restraint—the brooding figure, the heavy shadows, and the sense of something quietly threatening just beneath the surface.

Created around 1890, the original work is an etching and drypoint on paper with chine collé by German Symbolist artist Franz von Stuck.

This Dark Art & Craft edition has been carefully retouched, color corrected, and prepared for reproduction while preserving the texture, contrast, and atmosphere of the original print.

Presented in a 12" × 16" black alder wood frame, the work retains the wide archival-style border and intimate scale of the original image, giving it the feel of a historic museum print while making it ready to display.

A strong addition to dark interiors, gothic spaces, libraries, studies, studios, and collections centered on Symbolism, mythology, occult imagery, and historical dark art.
