Nicola Samorì works in a world of dark Baroque influenced drama. His paintings are gouged, distorted, melted, skinned and destroyed before reaching their final state. This act of destruction is so deliberate and contrasting to the works of painterly skill affected - it can almost be seen as violent. Samori’s methodology is one that intertwines both destruction and classic traditional Art such as Baroque (at times even Romantic) style paintings. Samori takes the attentive detail of his paintings which have the historical weight of past traditional styles and creates something completely new. Even his destruction has a sense of ruinous beauty and composition.
The Artist currently works and lives in Bagnacavallo in the province of Ravenna, Emilia-Romagna, Italy.
It's as if Samorì is asking - Why abandon the past when you can destroy and re-envision it?
