Painted Dream States
Self-taught Norwegian Artist Henrik Uldalen’s paintings are studies in contrast and medium. Uldalen's trademark thick and dramatic oil paintings are composed of dream-like figures that seem to melt into the darkened expansive void. Uldalen's work often conveys a sense of misanthropy and somber reflection on the state of our being, ever trapped between opposites. Using oil paint, the Artist creates with extreme dark and light contrasts imparting a surreal ethereal quality to his canvas. Composed, in part of classic figurative painting each work appears to emerge or transition from their natural states. Below are some of our favorites.
